Life is too short to sit still!
We love Rancho Gordo heirloom beans. In their newsletter this month, they recounted the following delightful story:
It’s funny, but I’m getting so used to being around “bean people”, that when I’m not, I’m a little put off. I was at an Oscar party (even though I think the last movie I saw in a theater was “Yentl”) and I brought a pot of beans. Now, I have to say, I made these with pure love. I cut up the mirepoix just so, used my best olive oil and cooked my Ojo de Cabra in a clay pot. My “regular” friends seemed happy to see me and added a side of beans to their plates but an out of towner seemed more than perplexed.
“What do I do with them?”
“You eat them.”
“With what?”
“Your dinner. As a side. They’re perfect as they are.”
The guest rolled his eyes but later tasted the simple beans and said, “You know, these are really good. Just like this!”
Oh, really!
Yes, really!
